Huawei Unveils Ambitious Chip Roadmap to Compete With Nvidia in AI Race
Huawei Technologies has publicly detailed its semiconductor strategy for the first time, signaling China's push for technological self-reliance. The Shenzhen-based company plans annual iterations of its Ascend AI processors, beginning with the 950 series in 2026 and promising doubled computing power with each subsequent release through 2028.
The blueprint extends to server chips and memory components, directly challenging established players like Nvidia, AMD, and South Korean memory giants. Huawei's supernode systems will scale up to 15,488 interconnected chips by 2027, marking a significant leap from current 384-chip configurations.
